The continuation of AAA/SWITCH
Better e-assessment systems, long-term and secure data management, a multi-functional personal learning and working environment: if only that existed, the daily life of members of universities would significantly improve. In the "Learning Infrastructure" project, SWITCH was looking for solutions along with twelve universities.
Learning Infrastructure was a direct continuation of the program AAA/SWITCH with focus on sustainability.
Wanted: universal, innovative concepts
In selecting suitable e-learning products and application scenarios for lecturers and students, each Swiss university more or less has to fend for itself. This often results in concepts that may well be workable but are, however, neither always suitable for universal use nor efficient. That was set to change: with the "Learning Infrastructure" cooperative project, part of the "Information scientifique: accès, traitement et sauvegarde" project initiated by the Rectors' Conference of the Swiss Universities.
Practical testing in 2013 and 2014
Under SWITCH's project leadership, university specialists have been developing practical solutions by the end of April 2014 that improve learning, working and teaching in the university environment. In 24 different work packages, the principal topics have been "modern learning and working environment" as well as "e-assessment", and SWITCH was also contributing substantively to them. The fruit of this work was presented publically after completion of the project during the eduhub days 2014.
